September Poems
September 24, 2009Spring scarce had greener fields to show than these
Of mid September; through the still warm noon
The rivulets ripple forth a gladder tune
Than ever in the summer; from the trees
Dusk-green, and murmuring inward melodies,
No leaf drops yet; only our evenings swoon
In pallid skies more suddenly, and the moon
Finds motionless white mists out on the leas.
– Edward Dowden, “In September“
I can hear
September’s
leaf
following
me
down
the asphalt
surface
of Locust Street
cartwheeling
on pins
when suddenly,
it stops –
just
to see
if I’ll turn
to look.

(I am trying to identify the author of the second poem but have not yet; please comment if you know the author and I will update the post accordingly.)

Love the second one! Our neighbors leaves are chasing over into our yard right now as I type…but I love it. I can’t wait until they change into their beautiful colors…that usually means a family hiking trip at Starved Rock…seriously….this place is gorgeous. If you are ever up this way, I’m totally taking you there…(fall is alot prettier though)!
Off on a different note…sorry don’t want to detour your post…my sis just called and they found out that they are going to be having a little boy in Feb!
We are SO EXCITED!!! I’m going to be an auntie! WOW!
Okay bad friend moment…does Rob only have 1 girl? I honesty can’t remember. Gosh, it’s been so long she’s probably a teenager! Oh. My. My sarcasm just might be right huh?!
